# 米国研修　Day 3

### 生徒主体でボストン市内を巡り、マサチューセッツ工科大学の見学も

 研修3日目。この日も最高気温7度と低く、風も強いため寒さを感じる一日でしたが、晴天のもとで研修がスタートしました。朝食後は、生徒たちが楽しみにしていた「Learn&Leadプログラム(班別自主研修)」を実施しました。このプログラムでは、5人の現地大学生を招き、生徒主体で行程を組み研修を行います。興味関心に基づいて分かれた5つの班ごとに、大学生と一緒に自己紹介や行程のブリーフィングを行い、9:30から13:45までの間でボストン市内を巡る計画を立てました。各班で、生徒たち自身が訪問したい場所を提案して、現地大学生の知見も踏まえながら、交通事情や移動効率も考慮した行程を作り上げました。中には、学生の提案を取り入れて計画を柔軟に修正する班や、学生自身も訪問したことのない場所に挑戦する班もあり、双方向的で活発な意見交換が行われていました。研修終了後の振り返りでは、多くの生徒が充実した経験を語っており、主体的な行動による達成感がうかがえました。例えば、ある班は、MITミュージアムを訪問し、最先端の科学技術に触れてきました。生成AI に関連する展示では、AIが生成した映像と実写を見分ける体験型のプログラムや、表情認識技術などを通して、現代社会における技術の進展とその可能性について理解を深めていました。また、別の班は、ニューイングランド水族館を訪問し、日本の水族館との展示手法や生物の違いに着目しながら見学していました。長野県内では水族館の見学機会が限られていることもあり、生物多様性や海洋環境に対する関心を新たにする機会となったようです。多くの班が昼食の場として訪れたクインシー・マーケットでは、クラムチャウダーやロブスターなど地域特有の食を体験。歴史ある市場でその土地ならではの食文化に触れました。また、物価の違いに着目し、日本との価格比較を行うなど、為替や経済状況について実感を伴った学びにつなげている生徒もいました。

午後はマサチューセッツ工科大学(MIT)のキャンパスツアーに参加しました。現役学生3人の案内で、研究施設や学内の建物を見学し、ナノテクノロジーや言語学といった先端分野の研究環境に触れることができました。各施設にはそれぞれ特徴的な背景や逸話があり、生徒たちは、MITの技術基盤とその革新さについて理解を深めていました。ツアー後半のQ&Aセッションでは、前日のハーバード大学訪問時と比較しても、より多くの生徒が積極的に質問する姿が見られました。学生からも、今回の経験を通じて生徒が自らの殻を破り、さらなる成長につなげてほしいと激励の言葉をかけてもらいました。

その後、16:30頃にボストンを出発し、途中で夕食休憩を挟みながら、22:00頃にニューヨークのホテルへ到着。移動を含め長時間にわたる一日となりました。
